    Dr. Jennifer Curtis is a board-certified physician in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and is the Chief of Gastroenterology at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor at Emory University. She is also a practicing physician and partner at Metro Atlanta Gastroenterology and Metro Atlanta Endoscopy Center.

    Dr. Curtis specializes in diagnosing a wide variety of gastrointestinal, liver, and digestive medical issues, including colon cancer screening, esophageal motility disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcers, Crohn’s disease, Colitis, Celiac Sprue, and Diverticulitis as well as general gastrointestinal and liver disorders. She performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as colonoscopies and endoscopies, to identify or prevent medical issues.  She offers customized treatment and management plans for patients suffering from issues of the gastrointestinal tract, and is well educated in the effects of diet & nutrition on GI issues as well as overall well-being. Dr. Curtis also specializes in diagnosing and treating cross-system illnesses that may affect multiple organ systems.

    From an early age, Dr. Curtis realized her desire and commitment to becoming a doctor to help change lives. She graduated with honors from The Pennsylvania State University with dual undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in both Science and Nutrition. Upon graduation, Dr. Curtis went on to earn her M.D. at The Medical College of Georgia, followed by residency at The Medical College of Virginia, in Richmond, VA.

    She completed her fellowship through the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine’s Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, where she trained with nationally recognized experts in all aspects of gastrointestinal, colorectal, hepatology, and esophageal diseases.

    Dr. Curtis was recently featured in The Atlanta Journal Constitution for her expertise in colorectal cancer screening in an article called 27 hours without food: The ins and outs of a colonoscopy. She is an active member of the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Gastroenterology.  Dr. Curtis joined the practice in 2013 following 10 years of previous experience as a gastroenterologist, and is currently accepting new patients. When medically needed, Dr. Curtis will also refer patients to specialist physicians.
